craig_pickrall Posted July 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2008 The first six shirts shown here are off the rack from stores in the Ft Bragg area from "back in the good old days" when no one was interested in Vietnam. Most were in the $4 range and one had a $15 tag on it.

craig_pickrall Posted July 6, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted July 6, 2008 The next two shirts plus his Ranger Patrol cap and a box full of his military records were donated to a thrift store upon his death at an early age. A friend and fellow collector was district manager of the chain of thrift stores and he got the grouping. He gave me one of the shirts and the cap and he kept the second shirt and all the paper work. Later when my friend sold his collection I manged to put the group together again. CAPT Milburn was a NCO and advisor to the 44th VN Ranger BN. After returning to the states he went to OCS. On both shirts the MILBURN name tape, the Ranger Badge and the Ranger Scroll are theater made and the other insignia is US made. Shirt

VALERY Posted July 6, 2008 Share #18 Posted July 6, 2008 Bonjour, Me too! Milburn's combat scrolls and his Ranger badges are really beautiful! Craig, Cokes, Hughes and Adams are my favorites. Adams' shirt has the same configuration as those worn by the 3rd Bde paratroopers at the beginning of their deployment in VN. LCL Hughes' has a very surprising numberered infantry BOS. I think he was very proud of his previous assignment at the 82nd. The private purchase shirt could denote an early SF assignment. Leigh, I'm keen on your Cox and Knight' shirts! Cheers Valery

Polygon Posted July 6, 2008 Share #22 Posted July 6, 2008 I still see plenty with insignia attached, unfortunately, these just aren't as collectible as say jungle jackets are for example.

beezman Posted July 6, 2008 Share #25 Posted July 6, 2008 Col Simmons was a Brigade Commander when the Big Red One landed in Vietnam, before being assigned to MACV. You can still see the shadow of the Brigade pocket patch.
