Lee Ragan Posted January 30, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 30, 2007 Tail number 19023 was "Yankee Doodle", the B-17E that carried Gen. Eaker to Rouen, France on that first 8th AF mission of 17 August 1942. She was assigned to the 414th Bomb Sqd, 97th Bomb Group. "Yankee Doodle" survived the war and was scrapped on 26 July 1946. Too bad she couldn't have been saved for a museum! Not just a whole lot of B-17 E models survived the war.
