patches Posted March 14, 2017 Author Share #302 Posted March 14, 2017 Here's one I found a Major of the Judge Advocate General HQ Georgia National Guard, looks legit, late 70s early 80s I should think. Summers in Georgia can be brutal with temperatures often reaching the high 90s/low 100s with extremely high humidity.

That will be now, or back in the 70s early 80s when it might of been worn, as the 70th Training Division, the old 70th Infantry Division redesignated. MattS Posted September 19, 2017 Share #315 Posted September 19, 2017 I knew the 70th was a stateside training unit in the 70s, didn't know it was called the 70th TD and not ID. Either way, it was probably "Worn Outside Southeast Asia" so I thought I'd post a pic here.

MattS Posted September 19, 2017 Share #317 Posted September 19, 2017 Getting off topic here, but the correct unit identification (circa 1970s) for the SSI on the jungle jacket I bought is the 70th Division (Training)? http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Catalog/HeraldryMulti.aspx?CategoryId=6672&grp=2&menu=Uniformed%20Services

Unit was redesignated from 70th Infantry Division to 70th Division (Training) in 1959. It was inactivated in 1996. It must have been reactivated and redesignated as the 70th Regional Support Command in 1996.

Yeah, maybe worn during the summer by a cadre instructor at some hot sultry southern training installation, like Benning, Jackson.

FIGMO Posted October 27, 2017 Share #324 Posted October 27, 2017 In 1985 at Fort Hood, Texas, I purchased 2 sets of OD Jungle Fatigues. They were brand new and had 1969 contract dates on them. If I remember correctly, they were inexpensive.Less than 10 bucks a piece. Also, the USAF at Clark AFB, P.I. wore both OD and ERDL jungle fatigues well into the 1980s. If I remember correctly, they were inexpensive.Less than 10 bucks a piece. Also, the USAF at Clark AFB, P.I. wore both OD and ERDL jungle fatigues well into the 1980s. Pending the fielding of the lightweight woodland BDU's, the Army allowed the purchase and wear of the tropical fatigues, aka "jungle" fatigues, in hot weather. I bought mine at the Ft. Myer, VA Clothing Sales Store. As you said, they were very inexpensive and mine were also dated 1969.
