Major Z Posted December 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2014 About a year ago I acquired this really cool cast iron Quartermaster branch insignia. It is about 18 inches wide, and 15 inches high. Its quite a heavy piece! Given the small amounts of wear, I'm guessing the colors are original to the piece. This insignia would have been made prior to the 1935 change where the eagle head rises above the wings. I wish I knew where it had been hung and in exactly what capacity. At Fort Sam Houston, there is a similar sized eagle cast in cement above the doors of the old PX. Has anyone seen one like this before? Would it have been used at a QM Depot, or perhaps a QM-related building? Thanks for looking!
