blackhawkdown Posted November 30, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 30, 2014 This came to me with a WW2 Troop Carrier uniform. Is it complete? Does it have a designation? Is there an inventory list for these items?
Survival Posted November 30, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 30, 2014 Well the map, hacksaw, and compass went into the cloth pouch. All the other items went into a clear plastic container, escape kit, that is missing. Any leakage of the contents would react with the plastic container and totally destroy it so it was probably thrown out years ago. The contents varied somewhat but I think everything is there. All the items were produced by the British.

KasmennB Posted July 18, 2015 Share #11 Posted July 18, 2015 Looks like he has part of an issued Escape and Evasion Package. These were kits being issued to personal who were at high-risk of possible capture. These usually included the E-17 Personal Aid Kit and an Escape Kit. The E-17 actually had two plastic flasks - one for medical and the other for survival/sustenance, an ESM-1 mirror, and a canvas carrying case which could be affixed to your web belt. An Escape Kit contents would vary depending on what the Commander/Intel determined and where they were going, but usually had some type of saw, compass, and "silk" map. They could also include the individual's "civilian" picture (for his fake travel papers to be worked by the resistance), wire cutters, button compass, wire saw, and phrase books.
