tom63 Posted November 28, 2014 #1 Posted November 28, 2014 These six US Navy insignia (buttons ?) were all in the inside pocket of a Naval Academy dress jacket. They are about 9/16" across and, while the have the same design as USN buttons, they are all clutch back. What would they be used for?
collectsmedals Posted November 30, 2014 #2 Posted November 30, 2014 I believe they are for a U.S. Navy Officers Dinner Dress short Jacket. This jacket does not close in front and the buttons are non-functional.
sigsaye Posted November 30, 2014 #3 Posted November 30, 2014 Nope, these are too small. The dinner dress jacket uses the medium sized Navy buttons from the pre 1948 CPO coats and they attach with loop shanks. This looks like some Academy specific thing
