glenm Posted November 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2014 Hi all - does anyone know where to source the typical instrument-fitting-to-instrument-panel screws/bolts for USAAF WWII aircraft instruments? I seem to be unable to find such things on an internet search...! Cheers, Glen.
hbtcoveralls Posted November 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2014 Glen, Aircraft spruce and specialty has all the AN fasteners that you will need. The specs haven't changed so just check your parts manual and you can get the same bolts as original http://www.aircraftspruce.com/categories/aircraft_parts/ap/menus/ha/index.html Tom Bowers
benguttery Posted January 5, 2015 Share #3 Posted January 5, 2015 Aircraft Spruce is a great place to get these. Search for "instrument screws". They have lots of other instrument mounting supplies.
rtepak6 Posted January 6, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 6, 2015 Agreed! Aircraft Spruce was a great source back when I was restoring panels. Good luck! Dale
glenm Posted January 6, 2015 Author Share #5 Posted January 6, 2015 Cheers guys! One more question - what length(s) am I looking for? They're for the fairly typical instruments to fit to a CG-4A panel. And do they need nuts on them too, or is the screwing into the instruments from the other side of the panel all that happens? hbtcoveralls Posted January 9, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 9, 2015 Glen, The CG4 parts manual is posted on line, Page 98 has the details of what screws are needed to mount the instruments http://www.scribd.com/doc/225348921/T-O-No-09-40CA-4-Waco-CG-4A-Glider-Parts-Catalog Tom Bowers

Glider-borne Posted June 13, 2016 Share #8 Posted June 13, 2016 Cheers guys! One more question - what length(s) am I looking for? They're for the fairly typical instruments to fit to a CG-4A panel. And do they need nuts on them too, or is the screwing into the instruments from the other side of the panel all that happens? Hello, About the nuts, it depend of the instrument (and manufacturer). I make several copy of panel and some instruments have nuts, other no. For the bolts, it is exactly (based on the original) this one for the CG-4A instrument panel ( but smaller for the switches) I share the "blueprint" of the panel, in our page (in metric sorry) https://www.facebook.com/Gliderborne/photos/a.1438018996414947.1073741841.1407639216119592/1438018999748280/?type=3&theater Mat / Glb
Glider-borne Posted June 20, 2016 Share #9 Posted June 20, 2016 The screws (new) and screws from the "field" directly unmounted from a Waco Glider.
glenm Posted June 20, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted June 20, 2016 Thanks for the info and pics - I bought some 6/32's a little while ago, but still had a fitting problem. Everything is in storage right now - will dig it out and recheck and let you know what was wrong. Cheers, Glen.

Glider-borne Posted June 20, 2016 Share #12 Posted June 20, 2016 So nice ! I have just one, I know a other one in poor condition but "unsellable" for the moment and I had missed one for $100 in 2014. Could you share more pics of the upper part of the control column (who is missing in mine) ? Mat
Glider-borne Posted June 20, 2016 Share #13 Posted June 20, 2016 I bought some 6/32's a little while ago, but still had a fitting problem. Is the nuts who are missing ? Some instruments, like altimeter, are a little more long than 3/4.
glenm Posted June 20, 2016 Author Share #14 Posted June 20, 2016 Will take some more pics for you, Mat, no problem. I'll dig out my panel and instruments and try and remember what was going wrong....
