Luxembourg Posted November 23, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2014 It's time for a new topic!I got the helmet from a collector who got it from a friend of the vet because he passed away a while ago.It is a Marine Veteran Bring Back helmet from Vietnam. I have also his dog tag and some other small items.Ther cover is a Marine one from 1959 and is already a part of the shell. It was never removed and is stiff. There are blood stains on it (NO rust), the front brim has grease around it (from fingers taking the lid on and off). The liner is completely sweat soaked and has a medic tape in the inside with the word "ERLA".I love those helmets which were actualy in the Vietnam war.Greetings from Luxembourg,Alex

AnDuc49 Posted November 23, 2014 Share #7 Posted November 23, 2014 How do you know that the stains are from blood though?
RustyCanteen Posted November 24, 2014 Share #8 Posted November 24, 2014 Ther cover is a Marine one from 1959 and is already a part of the shell. It was never removed and is stiff. Luxembourg Posted November 24, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted November 24, 2014 Thank you guys, this is my first photographic work. To the blood stains: In real the stains look more dark, rust turns orange over the time, blood turns (dark) brown. If this doesn't convince you, I used one of these blood testing kits to prove it. Gruntdoc Posted November 26, 2014 Share #14 Posted November 26, 2014 Nice one. Great job with the blood testing - I guess the artifakers will have to get a little more committed to their endeavors in the future.

bellasilva Posted December 12, 2014 Share #17 Posted December 12, 2014 Amazing helmet you have there, with that dog tag to boot! I love it. Any chance we can see more shots of the inside of the liner?
Luxembourg Posted February 1, 2015 Author Share #18 Posted February 1, 2015 Great helmet aand display. Do you have any more info on the Marine? What kind of blood testing kit did you use? I used an urine blood testing kit you get on the internet, but I doubt now that it worked properly. Because if it´s blood it should be more elongated stains and only on one side? Amazing helmet you have there, with that dog tag to boot! I love it. Any chance we can see more shots of the inside of the liner? Yes I´ll do some other pics next week. triggerhappyjim Posted February 1, 2015 Share #19 Posted February 1, 2015 really cool helmet....I guess that untouched since the war Nam helmets are quite rare....guess that most are just original period items puttogether... Really cool!!!
