Today's find. Cross of Military Service issued by the United Daughters of the Confederacy to James William McCann who served in the Great War as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. As the certificate states, he is a lineal descendant of John Foster McCann, a soldier who served with the Texas Militia, 3rd District during the War between the States. Numbered medal comes with its original box with matching number. Also have a framed colorized picture of Sgt. McCann with his named written on the back. I have not removed the medal from the backing. No research has been done on either soldier. I'll start on that later today. Enjoy!

Thanks, Al.

That is an incredible find. I should be so lucky!

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Kevin. I have only found one before and it did not have all of the provenance that this one has. But I'm not having much luck on getting any info about this Doughboy's Army history. Thanks, Al.

I am taking this grouping to this weekend's Dallas Arms Collectors gun show at Market Hall. I am set up on row AA, tables 16 & 17. Look forward to seeing you there. Thanks, Al.
