Salvage Sailor Posted May 6, 2021 Author Share #176 Posted May 6, 2021 Nice additions to the topic, thanks for posting these. The BLACK-FISH Insignia of the Submarine Rescue Vessels - "Guardians of Submarines" I've been hesitant over the years to post this one as the 'usual suspects' have been using this topic and our forum to make knock-offs of many of the patches I've posted here. So, I'll just be showing the front of this original 1950's US made Submarine Rescue BLACKFISH patch. Examples of the BLACKFISH in use by the USN USS ORTOLAN Lapwing class minesweeper (AM-45) with the Blackfish, soon to be converted to (ASR-5) in 1929 USS PIGEON, French Indochina 1939 USS COUCAL (ASR-8) USS FLORIKAN (ASR-9) USS SUNBIRD (ASR-15) USS KITTIWAKE (ASR-13) USS PIGEON (ASR-21)

I wonder what Code 60 stands for and does anyone know if these instructors taught only submariners escape drills or did they teach or oversee the training of other groups inside of their tanks like UDT? Tonomachi Posted September 4, 2021 Share #182 Posted September 4, 2021 Finally found this Deep Dive System Mark 1 shoulder sleeve patch that I have been looking for for a number of years now. It was part of grouping of patches that sold on eBay recently. I have a poor picture of this patch being worn by what I believe were two members of UDT that were part of the Experimental Diving Unit. This adds to my collection of Sea Lab related insignia.
