Rakkasan187 Posted November 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2014 Found this at a local junk store. This is an early 1st Pattern Airborne Demolitions pack. The back is marked Boyt 43 and the inside of the back has a hard plastic support base and an inner canvas pouch. Inside the pouch is leather lined which I presume was padding for some type of delicate explosives equipment such as fuses. The back side of the back has carrying straps so it could be used as a back pack. This pattern was used by both Army and Marine Parachute units in 1942 and 1943. TheGrayGhost Posted November 2, 2014 Share #2 Posted November 2, 2014 Nice looking pouch! The outer ring held 20 blocks of 1/2lb TNT. The innermost pouch held two boxes of blasting caps (very delicate). The outside inner ring held the tools, supplies and fuzes.

'Flage Guy Posted November 3, 2014 Share #5 Posted November 3, 2014 Leigh, you made a stunning find...especially since it still has all the inner components. Mine, though in mint condition, was gutted at some point in its life:

'Flage Guy Posted November 3, 2014 Share #10 Posted November 3, 2014 My pleasure! There hasn't been a whole lot of discussion on these here at the Forum, probably due to the fact that they don't show up often at all. I've known even some very advanced collectors who didn't have any idea what they were; they are scarce as chicken lips Oh yeah: I have seen at least 1 pic of Army Paratroopers training with these as well. Corpsmancollector Posted November 6, 2014 Share #17 Posted November 6, 2014 Leigh, I can't add much to this thread as members have already added the best photos and content! But this is a great find, a real beauty. I recently lost an auction on eBay for one, they are tough to locate. More commonly used by Marines than people might think too. If you ever come to part with it... Thanks for posting Will
etienne Posted November 7, 2014 Share #18 Posted November 7, 2014 Hello, just a few words to add that the hardest point with this demolition bag is to fill it ... 20 TNT blocks plus many other "not so easy to find" items E
Rakkasan187 Posted November 12, 2014 Author Share #19 Posted November 12, 2014 Thank you very much folks for the added information and pictures.,. What is an estimated value on this piece of equipment. I will be keeping this for now, but I would like to know for insurance purposes as I have my collection insured..
