ClaptonIsGod Posted October 30, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2014 This is the cap device for any enlisted person from E-1 through E-6 in the Coast Guard. Not sure on the period.
navyman Posted October 30, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 30, 2014 Yeah this hat insignia was worn by U.S. Coast Guard Shore Establishments. Yours could be ww2 hard to tell by the pic's. Hope this helps Jason
BROBS Posted October 30, 2014 Share #5 Posted October 30, 2014 To me, I am thinking WW2 era if the rules are the same for CG insignia as USN. Can you take a picture of the screw on the back with the nut off? -Brian
agate hunter Posted November 2, 2014 Share #6 Posted November 2, 2014 This looks like a hat badge for the USCG enlisted shore establishment uniforms of the WWII era. Like my hat that you saw in another post. They were either dark blue or khaki uniforms. Worn by Coast Guard Reservists who operated shore facilities in the USA. Coast Guardsmen out at sea in WWII wore white caps like the navy wore. This cap badge was only for men below the rank of Chief. Chief Petty officers had a different cap badge.
