Saturdays Flea Market Pick Ups

Recommended Posts

Rarely anything worth posting about at the local flea market but yesterday was different. A new vender was set up and picked up all the pictured stuff.

Will post some of it in other sections as I have a few questions on some of it.

Any comments are welcome.

Nice tidy group of finds, the torch is an Infantry Regt DI.

Wow, I thought it was some sort of french badge. It is not marked on the back, appears to me "stamped" and is pin back.

The torch is the DI for the 104th Infantry Regiment. It looks like it is the best piece out of the batch.

Allan

Allan,

Any chance that the torch is more of a sweetheart item for the 104th? The official DI design is quite different (but does incorporate the torch on it) unless this one is an alternate design I wasn't aware of. It reminds me more of the WWI emblem that was painted on their helmets more so than a WWII era DI.

Here are a couple of shots of the DI. In the bag that I culled through was a watch fob or medallion from the 1927 reunion of the 104th Infantry. Cannot say for certain they came from the same vet or related to each other as all this stuff was in a zip lock bag.

The 104th Infantry Regiment DI is not a sweetheart pin.

I agree with Bob.The 192nd Avn Co patch is the best.

Are the Thompson qual bars sterling, TSMG?

Sadly they are not. No hallmarks at all.

Very nice! Can we see closeups of the dog tags?

I would but they are on they way to a new owner. The Army tag does read:

Thanks Leigh and eagle5063

Kat The USCG pin does not say Honorable Discharge. Just US Coast Guard Reserve. It is screw back and marked Sterling Blackington.
