AAF Gloves

I picked these up recently. I think they are Type A-9 or A-9A flight gloves. But there are no internal tags and the cut seems different from the others I've looked at. The only tag is a small white one on the cuff of both that simply says "MEDIUM".

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

I think these are private purchase and not an issue pair of trigger finger mittens. They appear to be extremely well made, and they are undoubtedly warm, but I think that they were likely made to imitate the A-9 as a fashion item. Remember, the Army Air Force was getting a lot of publicity in 1942, 43 and 44, and the civilian fashions featured bomber style jackets, aviator scarves, and the like. I believe that is what we are seeing here.
