USS SEA DEVIL (AGSS-400) Balao class commissioned in May 1944 - five WWII battle stars

Redesignated Auxiliary Research Submarine (AGSS-400), 1 July 1960; Decommissioned, 17 February 1964

Great looking patch. I have an old plaque from the Sea Devil, SS-400 designation.

Here are a couple of USS Triton patches I recently added to my collection. The shield-shaped patch is by Ace Novelty and the rectangular patch appears Japanese-made as well.

Triton was the first nuclear submarine to circumnavigate the globe submerged. Commissioned in 1959, she was converted from a radar picket boat to an attack boat in 1962, so the one on the left is an early patch.

Great looking patch. I've seen this style patch with the APSS designation and did not know that an older ASSP variant existed.

I agree, Awesome design. I like SEAL. I was trying to figure out what the other character was. I found the patch on this site, http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/08315.htm . It looks to be the Marine bulldog.Which makes sense, she carried SEALS, UDT, & Marine Force Recon.
