b_hinch Posted October 9, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2014 Just received this today. I posted bad Ebay photos earlier but here are much better ones, and I'm still a little unsure on this one. Meyer marked, but I'm not used to seeing the vaulted eagle on this style. Normally I don't see a gap between the legs. Any info would be appreciated. Brig Posted October 9, 2014 Share #4 Posted October 9, 2014 Looks like a nice early piece. Are the markings raised or stamped?

b_hinch Posted October 9, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 9, 2014 Hey Brig. If this makes any sense - the Meyer shield is stamped on the eagle and raised on the anchor fluke.
b_hinch Posted October 9, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted October 9, 2014 Bob, thanks! That looks just like it. If it helps at all I cleaned the back a bit and "MEYER METAL" is stamped on the anchor shaft, partially obscured by the rope. Pre-WWII? Not looking to sell but would be curious about value also. Thanks guys.

If you click that link, Bob Gee says there, "I believe this badge to be WWI vintage but acknowledge that it could be a bit later."
b_hinch Posted October 9, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted October 9, 2014 Thanks Bob, I did see that in your link after I posted that. I think I found the exact bird in the forum. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/29114-banana-wars-era-ega-for-the-barracks-cover/
