NVG helmet mount - question about extra strap

I picked up a batch of NVG helmet mounts and they include the straps to hold them on the kevlar helmet as well as an extra strap with a loop on it. I found a bunch of NVG mounts for sale online that include the extra strap, but no explanation as to how it is used.

ive been told it is a chinstrap though i cant figure out how it works... if you search "nvg rhino chin strap" pictures pop up but nothing about how to use them

The official place for these straps is: "The bag of accesories locked inside a footlocker that never leaves the arms room unless an inventory is being conducted"

But seriously, the TM for the PVS-7's or 14's probably shows what it's for......but I've never seen it used, counted a few hundered, but never used one......

I see these in our arms room all the time but we never use them. like Baron said, the only time these ever see the light of day are during an arms room inspection.
