Persurs Posted October 6, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 6, 2014 I spotted this and can't seem identify it. It's shaped just like an X51 liner and looks to be made of the same material. The liner, too, looks remarkably similar. The only thing is, I've never seen any X51 liners with this type of suspension, they'll all olive drab webbing with the same rivet placement. Any ideas? Thanks, John
Persurs Posted October 6, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted October 6, 2014 For reference, here is Hooviedude's X51 helmet: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/107440-x51-experimental-lid-and-liner-together/
WW2JAKE Posted October 6, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 6, 2014 looks to be the shape of the israeli kevlar helmets but it looks to thick to be the liner of the X51
Persurs Posted October 6, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted October 6, 2014 Probably should have added that the button is labeled United Carr.

Persurs Posted October 7, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 7, 2014 Woah. So I was watching it time down on ebay, looked away for the last 20 seconds, tabbed back in and saw it went from 35 dollars to 108! All within a matter of seconds! Apparently, someone knows what this thing is, or at least thinks they do. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW-2-US-Army-Helmet-liner-training-helmet-/151426556718
LarryM3 Posted October 7, 2014 Share #7 Posted October 7, 2014 The X-49 and X-51 helmets were fitted with several varieties of liner for experimental purposes. This liner appears to be one from the "Liner, Helmet, M-1, Crash". This helmet may be the X-49 helmet and if so the winning bidder got an extraordinary bargain at $108.
