It kinda looks similar to the old printing blocks that newspapers used... ? Neat collection of items. Congratulations!

This piece is really intesting.

I wish I knew what it was.

I agree, it looks like an old style press plate for printing a photo in the newspaper. Great haul of stuff Mark!

Thank you for all of your nice comments.

Does anyone know what the following things are?:

Bag in post 9-11

Sword in post 14-16

Pouch in post 20

Black pouch in post 21

As for the item in post 23-26 (newspaper printing block?) what is odd is that it looks as if it came in this box.

The box was has a stamp dating it 1960.

On the back of the box which is very hard to read it says in pen "Elwood Vose."

It looks like it was a photo of a tailgunner (does anyone agree?).

I agree it looks like a reversed image for printing.Similar to the old glass negatives. As for the box it may have been a random box that just happened to be the right size and the item was stored in it.I found a WW2 set of DIs and insignias in a box from a jewelry store dated 1908.came out of an estate and its how they were just stored by the owner.

The black pouch is anyone's guess.First impression is a handcuff case....but its a guess.Doesn't strike me as a cartridge or cap box but maybe its foreign?

The photo looks like it may be a camera instead of a machine gun. (?) The velvet thing with the holes and slit look like a necklace holder as they have that same slit to hold a necklace for retail display.

It is a printers block plate. Made of metal and in reverse for printing. I have a bunch of them. That's a really nice one. Congrats on the great haul!!
