Fleet Air Recon and associated patches from 1950s-60s grouping

I will be offering a Navy pilot grouping up for sale shortly, but wanted to show off some patches from his belongings. They are all very nice but it is the bullion FAIRECONRON patch with his first name (Don) at the top. The large patch has his last name.

Nice patches, Where do you figure the AF patch came from?

Not sure although he did a survival course through the AF that I have the certificate for so perhaps he did some patch trading.
