Johndanger Posted June 26, 2008 #3 Posted June 26, 2008 I like it , but I think you should wear the bill flipped up, most pics I have seen seems like that was the most popular way to wear the daisy mae. Looks great though, John
BOLO Posted June 26, 2008 #4 Posted June 26, 2008 I tried to make this photo look like an old 1940's news photo
AndrewA74 Posted June 27, 2008 #5 Posted June 27, 2008 I like it! Here is my incomplete photo of my Desert Storm "impression". Andrew Oh yeah, I need to get some combat boots!
Captainofthe7th Posted June 27, 2008 #6 Posted June 27, 2008 If only we had really used Crocs for combat boots. No more trench foot! Rob
jim2 Posted June 27, 2008 #7 Posted June 27, 2008 This is how my great uncle wore his daisy mae in the Aleutians Great impression!
sgtbrown Posted June 27, 2008 #8 Posted June 27, 2008 The first shot is of me as a USN Lt pilot, standing next to my trusty TBM torpedo plane. The second shot is the ultimate USN Air reenactor photo when I got to serve as gunner in a SNJ. Tom
Justin Posted June 27, 2008 #9 Posted June 27, 2008 Evening Gentlemen, Impression is made up of the following: Original: 1st Pattern Herringbone Twill, Working Man's Cap "Daisy Mae"(Original) M-1 Fixed bail Helmet w/ 2nd Pattern Hawley Liner(Original) 1st Pattern Herringbone Twill, Working Man's Jacket(Original) M-1937 Field Service Trousers(Original) M-1938 Service Leggings, Dismounted(Original) M-1928 Haversack w/ contents and "Meat Can" contents(Original) M-1923 Cartridge Belt w/ Duel Canteens, Cups, and Covers, also M-1942 First Aid Pouch w/ kit(Original) U.S. Rifle Caliber .30 M-1(Original) Reproduction: 1st Pattern Herringbone Twill, Working Man's Trousers(WWII Impressions) OD Tank Top Undershirt(At The Front) Cushioned Sole Socks(WWII Impressions) Type I Service Shoes(WWII Impressions) Trouser Belt w/ Open Faced Buckle(WWII Impressions) M-1910 E-Tool("T" Handle Shovel)(At The Front) Very cool!! Championhilz Posted June 27, 2008 #10 Posted June 27, 2008 Here's a picture of myself (standing on the right) and three of my pards, taken at a reenactment at Memphis, Tennessee in 1994.
US Victory Museum Posted June 27, 2008 #11 Posted June 27, 2008 RE: "Here's a picture of myself (standing on the right) and ..." HANDS, Gentlemen! (Look closely at the photo. Esp. the two sitting. )
UPNATM Posted June 27, 2008 #12 Posted June 27, 2008 You do see a lot of period pictures, WWII included of soldiers that were a little more ''touchy feely" than we are today. I guess they were not as worried about being labeled a "sissy boy" (trying to be politically correct ) as we are today.
UPNATM Posted June 27, 2008 #13 Posted June 27, 2008 Here is a pic taken at one of our last events held at Camp Roberts here in California. I am on the left while my pal Phil (aka GI_GIVE here on the forum) is on the right. The senario was set in Sicily and considering that it was 105 degrees that day, I think that it added to the realism of the event.
GIl Sanow Posted June 28, 2008 #14 Posted June 28, 2008 I tried to make this photo look like an old 1940's news photo I think you need to invest in a pair of canvas/rubber jungle boots. Marauders swore they were like "walking on the bosoms of maidens." G

young90th Posted July 29, 2008 #21 Posted July 29, 2008 OK this may take awhile for you guys to read but it is worth it Seves Island impression Date: July 22-27 1944 Unit: 90th Division, 358th Regiment, 1st and 2nd Bn. Location: St. Germain sur Seves AKA "The Island" http://www.normandy1944.org.uk/seves.jpg Situation: Following the Heavy Fight for Hill 122 the 90th took a few days breather and then headed out again this time to Start Operation Cobra. In front of the 90th lay a small two mile long by half a mile wide "Island". This strip of land was cut to the North by the now swelling Seves River and to the others sides by swamps and creeks making an Island of Sorts. At 6:30 AM on July 22 the 1st and 2nd Bn Attacked north to the Island after a 15 minute artillery barrage. At first the the the attack was a success with the Bn.'s moving 250 yards inland, but this soon changed. At 12 PM the German Commander gave orders to send the Tough Ombres off the Island. The 1st and 2nd Bn.'s soon lost 2 officers and 7 men KIA and 10 Officers and 180 men MIA. Still holding on by a shoe string the 90th dug in for the night. The Next day the Germans brought up 2 MG42's placing one on the edge of an open field the the 90th rear and the other with a plain field of fire over the Seves River. Also this morning the Germans brought up 3 tanks, though 2 were disabled before getting into the fray. On July 23rd the Germans launched three attacks; One at 7:00 AM the second at 8:00 AM and the third roughly around 11:00 AM. By Mid day more then 200 American soldiers surrendered to the 50 Germans. A Group of Americans Dashed for the river instead of being taken prisoners, at this point the 2 MG42's opened up on the retreating Americans and decimated them. At around 3:00 PM two US army Chaplains boldly walked in the Meadows of Seves Island with White Flags to collect the dead. The Germans honored the truce and US and German medics came forward to take care of the wounded, at one point a MG42 gunner pointed out the dead and wounded soldiers to the medics. The 90th retreated to lick there wounds and fight another day. On the 26 and 27th of July the 90th again attacked but only to find the Island void of Germans.
