Bronze Sculture Commemorating the SF "Horse Soldiers"

I have been honored to be designated the temporary currator by the Foundation for Exceptional Warriors of the "America's Response Monument." The foundation commissioned 20 of these 60 pound bronze statues to be presented to MAJ (then Captain) Mark Nutsch, and 19 of his SF "Horse Soldiers." The statue commemorates the 600 SF Horse Soldiers that were given the mission to clear Afghanistan of opposing forces following the events of 9/11 as part of Task Force Dagger. President Bush told Nutsch that, if he needed anything to accomplish his mission, simply ask. Ask he did. He gathered 600 Afghan horses, requisitioned U.S. saddles, modified the tac, trained his men, then rode into the bowels of hell. He led the cavalry style assaults on defending positions by riding straight into the strength of the force, quickly over-riding and defeating them. The purpose of the not for profit foundation (see www.exceptionalwarriors.org) is to serve those warriors that epitomize honor, valor and sacrifice. That is magnificent. I knew the SF was using some horses over there but did not know the extent of their activity. A wonderful tribute to these brave men.
