Lets see some USMC Good Conduct Medals

Recommended Posts

What a fabulous group.  I really like seeing the U. S. Marine Corps top bar included with the mounted medal group.

Wonderful group, Kurt! Congrats!

"I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." (Message sent by 1st Lt. Clifton B. Cates. USMC, 96th Co., Soissons, 19 July 1918 - later 19th Commandant of the Marine Corps 1948-1952)

Thanks Bob, since he served into the 1960s, his file is not totally available and as a result, I can´t get the citation for his commendation with ribbon for a few more years yet anyway.

And another medal from the good conduct class of '51. This marine was a parachute rigger and served in Korea during the war. As a member of Fighter Squadron 212, he helped in the push up north and supporting the Marines trapped at the Chosin Reservoir.
