I'm just amazed! What a great haul. That footlocker is a beauty but that cannon really has my interest peaked. I'll be following this thread and I'm looking forward to seeing more goodies.

Thanks for sharing your find!

I agree with Doyler your going to see more and more of this happening over time as the older collector and baby boomers died off and collections come up for sale. I see more guns being auction off then every before and I've been doing it for 20 years.

I talk with a collector over the summer down by Madison, WI that purchased 1/5th of a older collector collection that died and he spent $20,000 and had to sell some of it off and to go back and buy more. He said their was tons of vintage military and had to go to the bank and do a loan.

The collector that died was well to do and had top notch stuff.

I only have dreams of this type of find. To quote dumb and dumber "so, your saying there's a chance" I might find one of these hauls.

Seriously though, that is one heck of a score.

What was it like the second that door slid open and you saw that pile of stuff for the first time? Did you gasp, loose all strength in your legs and fall over, weep openly? All three?

Baseball legend Ted Williams put it well when asked which was the best team he ever played on. Without hesitation he said, “The United States Marine Corps.”
