quack Posted September 12, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2014 APH-5 ?? My first impression was that this must have been USAF or Navy due to the color, but I have just seen a photo of a white APH-5 in use by an Army Pilot at Fort Rucker in the 1960s/70s. So, I guess it could be.
boxerdogi Posted September 12, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 12, 2014 I think it looks more like an HGU-2 given the vent holes and open back visor cover. It just never had the oxygen mask receivers attached. It would make sense to me for an Air Force or Army helicopter pilot to own it. Very nice example. Lee Ragan Posted September 12, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 12, 2014 I also think it's an HGU-2. I have one very similar that I used in Civil Air Patrol back in the 80's while flying as a crewmember on an O-1 Bird Dog. The one I have was re-conditioned to have a boom mike and no longer use an oxygen mask. I think they were even marketed as helicopter crew helmets.
