Great helmet!!! It's these "been there, done that" types of items that are a true piece of history, and you snagged a good one. Nice pick up, for sure!

Kinda late to the party on this one but gee, what a great helmet. I love anything to do with PTO and the fact he took leave in New Zealand makes it even better in my eyes. Well done.

Thanks my friend! My wife and my three (now grown) children grew up in Michigan and I did two university degrees at Central Michigan, Mt. Pleasant where my wife and her family are from. If you are ever there visit Robair's Bakery that is my wife's sister's bakery!

I grew up in the UP too, did any of the information reference a town or location that the Corpsman grew up in or was born? Im sure its not a critical piece of information but I was just curious.

Yes, his mother and father immigrated to the UP from England and he grew up in Garden, Michigan, Delta County. Are you near there?

Hello there i am very very very interested in all of this post including the whereabouts of the helmet and looks like a knife there Gordon Heafield was my Grandfather and i am just learning of all his military experiences i would really really love to have these items please let me know thank you
