This was mixed in with a small group of assorted US military patches, and I have no proof it is military other than the fact it was with military patches. A little on line research has turned up the letters W.T.U.D. stands for "world Turned Upside Down" and if you notice the continents on the map are upside down. Other than that, I have no idea. I was wondering if it might be Antarctica related? It is embroidered on black wool and has a backing which might be a very thin brown leather.

Thank you quack, that is an interesting piece of trivia! Johnny, now that mention it, I recall having seen some British Royal Navy ships' patches that hada similar black rectangle shape. It might be coincidence, or you may be on to something.

Hello,

The rooster is the symbol of France but this patch is not French, I mean in the army. Almost nobody knows this story in Yorktown except American and British.

However it can be a joke or a reminder for the British.

The rooster is the symbol the University of South Carolina, of Wallonie or Jesus College in Cambridge.

No other ideas?

Thanks

laurent
