1930's/40's ROTC Cavalry Sweater

Found this yesterday at an antique store-it's a ROTC Cavalry "R"? Rawlings Knit Cardigan sweater (55%-virgin wool/ 45% cotton).I'm guessing it's from the 1930's/40's era. I guess, with a little research, I could figure out which college it came from. Interestingly the crossed sabres are upside down. Thanks for looking.
