Made by N. S. Meyer with the 9M shield and stamped sterling. I am guessing this badge dates from the early 1960's? It is 2 1/2 inches long and very heavy. I couldn't find a catagory to put this in so the administrators are welcome to move it to the correct place.

This is a USAF Missileman Badge. My father earned his Master Missileman badge. These are given to personal that are trained in the launching of land based nuclear weapons.

I was in missiles in the 80's and here is my missile set I kept from then. I was assigned to the minuteman II sorties so these were used for the ICBM crews both on the alert crew side like myself and those on the maintenance side, at least at our base.

The badge was first created in 1958. The N. S. Meyer M9 hallmark dates from mid 1950's to mid 1960's. This puts my badge between 1958 and the mid 1960's.

1958-1963 it was called a Guided Missile Insignia

1963-1979 it was called a Missileman Badge

1979- it was called a Missile Badge

Where did you find the hallmark date information? I've been trying to find a source for some time to help ID mine. I agree, great find!
