Recommended Posts

It has been a hectic time the last few months, retiring from the Army, building a house, moving the family, living out of my office, etc. Along the way I have been able to keep my sanity by picking up some items here and there. I also recently picked up a massive group of misc. items from one individual. It has alot I am still going thru. It contained 14 ARVN Marine guidons and Flags that were featured in a book about the ARVN marines, ARVN patches of the type U.S. Advisors would have worn, some of the individual's plaques and misc foriegn jump wings and badges.

Here is probably the most interesting part of the latest pick ups. It is a stack of original documents, AARs, Graduation Certificates, training manuals, photographs, etc of the 25th and 9th Infantry Division's Sniper Schools in Vietnam. Memos from Vietnam to Benning, Sniper School Commander to DIvision Commnders, etc.

Nice haul.That 9th patch with the skull is killer!

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there

I've chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

where never lark, or even eagle flew;

and while, with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
