Two images of the 173rd Abn Bde patch on the nose of two different HHC 173rd Airborne Brigade helicopters circa 1968, I believe they were C&C Birds.

Two cannon that were gifts to the Chatham Artillery from President George Washington during his trip to Savannah in 1791. The cannons are in front of the headquarters of the 230th Field Artillery Battalion on a float with signs for the DUI of the 230th and SSI of the 48th Infantry Division.

Ah this is from mid -ish late-ish 1949 and shows the some of the Divisions of the Regular Army then active, missing, which I believe would be on another page, are the 4th (Training Div Ft Ord) 7th, (Korea/Japan) 9th (which was a Training Div Ft Dix NJ), 11th Abn (Japan/Ft Campbell KY) 24th (Japan), 25th (Japan), 101st (Training Div Cp Breckenridge KY), 3rd Armd Div (Training Div Ft Knox KY). I find it interesting that the 8th Div is depicted, this unit wasn't active in 1949, it was only reactivated in August 1950 at ft Jackson SC.

This is a 1970s photo of one of the 101's Hueys at Ft Campbell Kentucky. The habit of painting the Screaming Eagles patch on some of their Birds going back a bit to the war in Vietnam. ( I got a great photo in one on my books of a 101 patch on a chopper at Ripcord in 1970, will scan it).

And here's that scan, it's from a 1978 book on AIRBORNE Operations of the Worlds Airborne forces WWII up to date of publication, had it since that time, bought it like October 1978.

And the last ones for tonight.

The continued use of the WWII USMC Shoulder Patch as a Official symbol, in this case the 2nd Mar Div in more contemporary signage.

Note even the use of the WWI 2nd Division patch for the 1st and 3rd Battalions 6th Marines

A Self Explanatory Foto with Caption. It's the T Patch, this time for the 71st Airborne Brigade in this 1973 foto.

Would be interesting to find out if young Glen Copeland ever followed up and earned his wings 7 years later!
