seanmc1114 Posted July 31, 2022 Author Share #342 Posted July 31, 2022 The back of this official U.S. Army photo has the date 27 October 1967 and the caption: "The old Americal Division colors are dipped in salute as the national anthem is played at the division colors ceremony." However, the image on the flag is specifically that of Task Force Oregon rather than simply the Americal Division, although the flag appears to be solid white rather than in the style of a divisional flag. Compare it to the flag in the second photo taken at the ceremony where the Americal Division was deactivated in November 1971 which, per The Institute Of Heraldry, displays the divisional SSI on a flag with the upper half being red and the lower half being blue. atb Posted July 31, 2022 Share #343 Posted July 31, 2022 Army doctor wearing Eighth US Army (EUSA) and First Republic of Korea Army (FROKA) SSI on his fatigue shirt. Apparently, it was common for soldiers of units and advisors working with ROK organizations. I have an OG wool shirt of an officer of the Korea-based 4th US Army Missile Command with the FROKA SSI on the right shoulder. I do not believe these are FWTSSI (now called something else by the Army).

seanmc1114 Posted September 29, 2022 Author Share #350 Posted September 29, 2022 Photo from a 1944 issue of Army Life showing a WAC wearing the Replacement And School Command SSI and Infantry School DUI on her cap while standing nect to a sign depicting the Infantry School SSI/DUI. Of course at this time, the insignia had only been approved as the DUI for the Infantry School and would not be approved as a separate SSI until 1951.
