digi-shots Posted November 3, 2017 Share #59 Posted November 3, 2017 I have some USGS items related to Antarctica but nothing specific to Mericle Rock on Campbell Glacier, Victoria Land I recently picked up a grouping named to Dave Mericle, same USN Electronics Tech that Mericle Rock was named after. (I posted some pics in the Groupings section) I googled it quite a bit but really havent found much on it. How does someone get a nanatak rock out cropping named after them?? Are there any Navy journals that you know of that I could search? I would like to read up on it. Thanks!

digi-shots Posted November 3, 2017 Share #61 Posted November 3, 2017 Bearmon, thanks for the link! Mericle Rock: A nunatak in the middle of Campbell Glacier, approximately 9 mi from its head, in Victoria Land. Mapped by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-64. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for David L. Mericle, U.S. Navy (USN), electronics technician at McMurdo Station, 1967. I'd like to find a patch to go with his grouping...
