Salvage Sailor Posted April 5, 2017 Share #24 Posted April 5, 2017 Icebreaker USS STATEN ISLAND (AGB-5) From the deck jacket of a crewman who was on Deep Freeze 1962-1963 This is the typical two-piece construction STATEN ISLAND deep freeze patch we see, this one being a well worn patch removed from a USN deck jacket They were also used with just the backing and illustrated individually. This one is also removed from the same deck jacket Deep Freeze 62' 63' - On this expedition the STATEN ISLAND lost their Captain in a helicopter crash along with the pilot.
