flashesandovals Posted June 5, 2015 Share #1839 Posted June 5, 2015 Thanks - not even in scope of my collection, as I do 1945-1995 Army only...just another sidekick I guess.
hink441 Posted June 5, 2015 Share #1840 Posted June 5, 2015 Great DCUs. I have to ask, what is the story with SFC Gonzalez. Special forces and three time awardee of the CIB??? Chris
flashesandovals Posted June 5, 2015 Share #1841 Posted June 5, 2015 I honestly don't know - I have 3 sets from the same guy DCU, BDU & HWBDU - got them on eBay a few years ago.
PriorityOne Posted June 5, 2015 Share #1842 Posted June 5, 2015 That gonzalez DCU is amazing, surprising there is no combat patch though. That 173rd mod, and that Smith Air Force jacket with yhe funky green embroided tapes are very cool! Extreamly nice collection and thanks for sharing! hink441 Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1843 Posted June 6, 2015 That Gonzalez DCU would have to be a Korean era, a Vietnam era, and a GWOT era CIBs. Seems vey unlikely to me. He would have to be in his 70s and running around Afghanistan or Iraq. Is my thinking wrong on this one??? Chris
PriorityOne Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1844 Posted June 6, 2015 Only 325 men have earned the triple CIB, I looked at a list on Wikipedia, there is not a Gonzalez. The list has not been classified as official by the army, but even with that I think it might be a fake now.
flashesandovals Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1845 Posted June 6, 2015 So, what if someone did Panama, ODS and e.g Aghanistan? Would that be 3 CIB's? Not pretending to be right, but would anyone put together 3 different uniforms to sell them for a couple of dollars on eBay? When was that Wiki page last updated? With all recent deployments a lot of CIBs mudt have been awarded...just thinking out loud here
PriorityOne Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1846 Posted June 6, 2015 Those are both considered under Vietnam (March 1961 to March 10, 1995).
hink441 Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1847 Posted June 6, 2015 Those are both considered under Vietnam (March 1961 to March 10, 1995). Yes this is correct. Panama and Desert Storm are considered the VietNam era for CIB purposes.
scottiques Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1848 Posted June 6, 2015 That Gonzalez DCU would have to be a Korean era, a Vietnam era, and a GWOT era CIBs. Seems vey unlikely to me. He would have to be in his 70s and running around Afghanistan or Iraq. Is my thinking wrong on this one??? Chris You are correct-- I would be very surprised if the 3rd Award CIB was correct. Maybe a misunderstanding of the regulation and awards?? Some units produce orders, even for the same era awardees, and maybe the guy misunderstood what he was entitled to wear??
