Soar Posted June 21, 2011 Share #1033 Posted June 21, 2011 I know this has been a topic of much discussion on the site, and no disrespect intended in any way. But exactly how many different camo/uniform variations has the US Army been though in the last 5 years??????? Just as I think I am getting my head round all the options, I see yet another new variation. From across the pond it seems crazy.
Nkomo Posted June 22, 2011 Share #1034 Posted June 22, 2011 Captain from the 2nd Armored Cav Regiment. Combat Medics Badge on left breast. History of 2nd ACR's deployment to Iraq: After returning from Bosnia, the Regiment returned to Fort Polk, Louisiana. In 2002, elements of the Regiment were deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan as part of the Global War On Terrorism. Soon the unit deployed again to the Gulf, this time for Operation Iraqi Freedom. With only 96 hours notice, the Regiment deployed the Second Squadron and O Troop (Air Cavalry) to protect the V Corps lines of communication during major combat operations against the Iraqi Army. By May of 2003 the entire Regiment was deployed and served in the Baghdad Area of Operations. Upon the Sadr Uprising of April 2004, the Regiment's tour was extended in combat. The 2nd ACR fought urban battles in Sadr City, Diwaniya, Al Kut, Kufa, and An Najaf. The Regiment remained for a total of 16 months and earned the Presidential Unit Citation. Nkomo Posted June 22, 2011 Share #1037 Posted June 22, 2011 1st Cav Division DCU with Specialist rank. Note velcro square for glint tape/IR square on right sleeve. I have many 1st CAV SCU's, but very few with the velcro square for the glint tape/IR square. The Division fought in many key battles against insurgents including the Second Battle of Fallujah in 2004, where the 2nd Brigade Combat Team engaged in fierce house to house intense urban combat to root out enemy cells waiting in the city.
