mvmhm Posted August 8, 2014 #1 Posted August 8, 2014 I found this on eBay years ago when I was collecting Adolf Hitler artifacts....it's a fragment of a picture (location unknown), but the soldier was thoughtful enough to write the details and his name on the reverse. I assume this was probably part of a picture that had been sent to Hitler as a gift and was retrieved from the rubble. It's about 12 inches long. Mark sends
USCapturephotos Posted August 8, 2014 #2 Posted August 8, 2014 Mark. I love this! It is so great that the GI wrote that down. Any luck finding out any more about the GI? Paul
mvmhm Posted August 8, 2014 Author #3 Posted August 8, 2014 Haven't really looked except to see that he died in 1996 (I think that was the year)...... Mark sends
Squad leader Posted August 8, 2014 #4 Posted August 8, 2014 This picture wasn't taken in Berchtesgaden but in Monaco on the French Riviera. What you see in the foreground is the Palace of Monaco where Princess Grace (Kelly) married the Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956. That's the mediterranean sea in the distance not the Alps. Dan.
mvmhm Posted August 8, 2014 Author #6 Posted August 8, 2014 I wasn't implying it was a picture of Berchtesgaden.....I've been there many times (B'gaden)...good to know what it was of though...I thought it might have been something in Italy or Greece.. Mark sends
Squad leader Posted August 8, 2014 #7 Posted August 8, 2014 Mark, My mystake. I thought the pix has been taken in Berchtesgaden, I just understood it was found there... Dan.
fstop61 Posted August 12, 2014 #8 Posted August 12, 2014 Maybe Adolph's real estate agent was showing him possible new vacation properties-too bad the deal fell through
