USMC-RECON0321 Posted August 7, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 7, 2014 Hello, I received a picture of this from a local young collector asking if I knew what it was, but I don't and can't seem to find it in my patch book. Any help to ID this would be appreciated. It's on the side of a 1960's Vietnam era helmet liner. Thanks Troy
atb Posted August 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 7, 2014 I have a vague memory of that being for one of the Vietnam Era Basic Combat Training (BCT) brigades. The brigade number is on the star in the shield. Maybe at Ft. Polk?
USMC-RECON0321 Posted August 7, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 7, 2014 ATB, Nice memory! I just did a little research to check your lead and confirmed it. Here is a picture of a sign at Fort Polk in the late 60's. You can see the insignia in the upper right corner. So I would say, he most likely has a polished up and decaled helmet of an instructor from that time period. Thanks again Troy

Ivydiv Posted February 15, 2021 Share #7 Posted February 15, 2021 I took Advanced Infantry Training there in 1968. I have some pictures somewhere of the National Forest signs stating Land is Closed to Public for Army training or something like that. Tigerland was a busy place during the War.
