knife7knut Posted August 5, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 5, 2014 I am far from an expert on swords but that one looks nearly identical to the model 1860 Emerson & Silver sword I own. Will try to post pics.
nbolinger Posted August 5, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 5, 2014 I was thinking the same thing but the grip seems a bit smaller on the CSA ones , waiting on pics of blade.
sundance Posted August 5, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 5, 2014 The fittings and drag on the scabbard are unusual. I don't remember seeing any like that.
SARGE Posted August 5, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 5, 2014 It is almost impossible to tell from this one photograph what this sword is. What I can see tells me that the chain hanger is a post-CW period society/fraternal sword hanger and not Confederate. As sundance says, the scabbard is very unusual and not what I would expect to see on a Confederate sword. CS swords have been faked for over 100 years so I would be very skeptical of it without much better photographs.
