Backtheattack Posted August 5, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2014 Last weekend the German-American Festival at Grafenwöhr Training Area was again. In 2013 they had no money for this festival. Was a great weekend, much more visitors than all the years. One litte teardrop - the historical clubs with their "old" equipment where this year side by side with modern american and german equipment - which gave some devaluate words done by uninformed people who didn`t recognize that this was not the equipment used in todays wars. Backtheattack Posted August 5, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 5, 2014 Leigh, if you will come back - see you at Hof, northern Bavaria! News talked about 110000 visitors from friday to sunday.
gwb123 Posted August 6, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2014 It shows how sadly out of date I am with current technology... despite my military service years ago, I don't know what much of the new stuff is or what it does. That double antenna has me stumped, but I would guess counter battery radar or a communications array. Even the trucks look bigger than when I was in. Backtheattack Posted August 6, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted August 6, 2014 gwb123, the trucks are the mine resitant ambush protected vehicles. There are some more models but noticed there in 2012 and 2014 only 2 models. 2014: 2012: In 2012 they show off a communication vehicle:

Backtheattack Posted August 9, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted August 9, 2014 Jeff, this festival is a great "public magnet" and a good publicity for the US Army, so I couldn`t understand why they had no money in 2013, and why they placed vehicles from the car clubs in the middle of modern equipment when the members of the car clubs where dressed in World War II or Vietnam uniforms. gunbunnyB/3/75FA, some more pics:
Backtheattack Posted August 9, 2014 Author Share #11 Posted August 9, 2014 And that`s what I mean with "mixed" vehicles and uniforms from different times, modern uniform, modern equipemnt World War II, side by side
Backtheattack Posted August 5, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted August 5, 2015 The 2015 German-American festival was last weekend. No Mine Resistant Vehicles there, but Stryker Vehicles in some different versions. On the place of the Reenactors Jeeps seen last year, few new items and cars. German "Eagle" one of the new things at the Reenactment place
