Siamundo Posted July 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2014 I came across these recently and couldn't pass them up. I do not know anything at all about the person who picked these up or brought them back, but evidently they made it a point to pick up a small souvenir flag everywhere they were stationed or visited-possibly on R & R. They vary in style and construction with the largest being the Thailand flag at 11.5" x 7.5" and the smallest being from Laos at 8" x 5.25". The SVN example is 9.25" x 7". The one you might not recognize is from Burma, although it is has Birmanie printed on it which I have discovered is the French spelling. According to info I found on-line, this design was changed in 1974 so the flag would appear to date from before then. Of course the other two are Japan and Australia. Enjoy. Siamundo Posted July 28, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted July 28, 2014 The Laos and Burma flags are made identically, of an odd slick stiff material and appear to have been made by the same shop or company. The countries of Laos and Burma actually share a border.
