ocsfollowme Posted July 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2014 I've never seen this before but had to have it for my home front collection. Something with Air Depot. Anyone ever seen on before? Anyone know what the SPAAD stands for?

ocsfollowme Posted July 26, 2014 Author Share #12 Posted July 26, 2014 Vance and Johnny: Do you have a list of Airfield abbreviations? I have a list of over 400 contract airfields (name, location, coordinates), but they lack the abbreviation. I was just wondering how you knew the positive ID on the SPAAD...even though it's almost a no-brainer if you have some knowledge of air fields. Johnny Signor Posted July 27, 2014 Share #13 Posted July 27, 2014 Well first off , you probably already know any of the "Air Depot" types usually have the arrowhead design in them , here's the ones I know of , SAAD -San Antonio MAD-Middleton RAD-Rockwell FAD-Fairfield AAD-Alaskan SAD- Scott HAD-Hickam BIAD-Bangalore/Bombay India I only know these as I found them online in various sites , airfields are usually associated with the AAFBU(Army Air Force Base Units) Johnny

vzemke Posted July 27, 2014 Share #17 Posted July 27, 2014 I knew what it was because I lived in Spokane for a few years and read about their WWII history. You also have a nice Alaskan Air Depot (AAD) patch for sale here on the forum, but you have it incorrectly identified: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/215049-bunch-of-ww2post-patches-fs/
