rosette

I would agree with firefighter that it appears to be a rosette from the Verdun medal, dating it to the immediate post-WW1 years.

I think it's just a generic "red, white, & blue" patriotic lapel rosette.

Obviously it could be, but it looks like there is way more red and then only a couple of white & blue stripes.

The patent is from 1888, not the item. These were made, I suspect, either from post-WWI through post WWII or just post-WWII. The reason I say that is because there are many examples of later US ribbons (through WWII) by this company/patent. Search "rosette" on eBay and you'll see many listed. I agree that this is the Verdun medal ribbon.

Hello,

I know this is a little late to reply to this topic, but I have found a site, if you haven't already, all on these rosettes. Which from what I have found, are still being made today. Yours however is probably dated as its patent date. That's what I am guessing, and the one fellow is probably correct, it being a Verdun medal rosette. The site is: www.frontiernet.net/~jackiebush/Rosette.html

Thanks,

KT
