RANDALL 1953 Posted April 7, 2019 Share #28 Posted April 7, 2019 I liked the box and what was inside. Most Third Reich badge awards had thin pins on the back, you would think they would have made them more stable as these were worn in the field. Once saw a film of a German army unit parade marching and one soldiers infantry assault badge was bouncing all over his chest.

manayunkman Posted April 15, 2019 Author Share #30 Posted April 15, 2019 I don't think the Germans were thinking long term about the war. They made their medals thinking they wouldn't be worn that much.
bobatl Posted April 17, 2019 Share #31 Posted April 17, 2019 I wonder if the Germans thought that the Pennsylvanisch Deutsch sounded like the German equivalent of the Beverly Hillbillies?

KASTAUFFER Posted April 17, 2019 Share #33 Posted April 17, 2019 I wonder if the Germans thought that the Pennsylvanisch Deutsch sounded like the German equivalent of the Beverly Hillbillies? My Grandpa spoke Pennsylvanisch Deutsch fluently. It was fun to go to the Fersommling in Berks County and watch the old guys converse.
