A reminder about Sales Ads (Threads): 10 at a time max

Greetings to one and all.

Every now and then we need to revisit some of the rules and conventions that keep the Forum up and running.

Lately the Moderators have noticed a number of members posting large numbers of sales ads. We've seen this from both new and long term members.

To go straight to the point, this is not eBay.

We do not have the capacity to host large numbers of sales ads without pushing aside the discussion threads that are the main purpose of this Forum.

We spell this out pretty clearly in our rules:

"RULE 10.8 - Excessive Ads

We recommend and strongly encourage members to keep their FOR SALE, TRADE, and WANTED posts to perhaps four to six per week. While this is generally a self-enforcing, honor system policy, we reserve the right to warn or revoke FOR SALE, TRADE, and/or WANTED section or MEMBERSHIP privileges for anyone who makes what we deem to be excessive use of this section....

No more than 10 (ten) ads (meaning sales threads) per member at any one time. The USMF owner and administration reserves the right to remove any ad for any reason at their discretion with no prior warning.

Remember, the FOR SALE, TRADE, and WANTED sections are a convenience for forum members and not a place for free hosting of your large militaria store."

Before anyone reacts to this, keep in mind that within any one of those 10 sales threads, one can list as many items as you want to. Many of the ads for patches already do that, with dozens listed within one thread.

I know our members with high dollar items like to make a separate thread for every rare medal or grouping so that they stand out. And they are free to do so... up to 10 sales threads. But as I explained to one member, if you have a dozen painted WWI helmets, why wouldn't you want your potential customer to be able to see them all in the same thread?

This is not a new rule. But moving forward the the Moderators are being advised they may delete anything over 10 sales threads they may find posted by a single member.

If anyone has questions on this, please feel free to PM any of the Moderators or myself. Thanks for helping to keep this one of the smoothest running Militaria sites on the web!

Additionally, members should know that, if this rule is violated, the newest and most recent threads exceeding this limit will be deleted without warning or merger
