Mitch Posted July 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2014 Hi, I have this nice subdued 82nd Airborne patch. It is a cut edge , fully machine sewn. This patch was procured by the original owner between 1970-72. I have not seen many like this, so I'm not sure where it was made. German, Japanese ???? Any help appreciated. Andrei Posted July 11, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2014 My opinion is that is an early subdued flat edge, US made.
Tonomachi Posted July 12, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 12, 2014 Not an expert here but I kept these photographs as reference which I have listed as being German made.

gwb123 Posted July 12, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 12, 2014 German made... there is also a subdued 101st patch made in Germany around the same time, often mistaken for a US made subdued on twill version.

I had the 101st SSI you're talking about. I always thought it was US made.
Mitch Posted July 12, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted July 12, 2014 Thanks guys for all your input. I was leaning towards German made , but I don't know that much about German made patches. Thanks again for helping me learn something new. Regards, Mitch

X_redcatcher Posted July 13, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 13, 2014 yes, but they also still make them today too. Why?? I have no idea.
Proud Kraut Posted July 13, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 13, 2014 yes, but they also still make them today too. Why?? I have no idea. As far as I know they are out of stock meanwhile. I ordered all U.S. cloth insignia the are offereing online two or three years ago but received only 8th ID and VIIth Corps patches then. Here's KALKA's Screaming Eagle for comparison. There was a fairly recent post I'm pretty sure of a Kalka subdued 101 as a combat patch, an OD one. cant remember that, but i was, either on a early 70s? Vietnam worn tropical coat or a standard shirt, can't find it now, wish I would of saved it.
