nebelwerfer Posted July 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2014 I bought this photo very cheap, years ago on ebay from Austria. I don´t know what gun it was, but thought it was looking different from the others I had seen so long. Then I put it away and forget about it. Beginning this year, I start research on US 105mm Howitzer Artillery and stepped about a Box in my Barn that was marked Howitzer M3. I had never heard about it and did some more researche on it.And the Airborne Glider Artillery. I don´t now where this box came from, but I was very happy about it. Then I remembered this different looking picture in on of my boxes - and well, it was a M3 Howitzer on it! Then I turned it around and read the backside. nebelwerfer Posted July 11, 2014 Author Share #2 Posted July 11, 2014 It read: This was taken in Schwaz. 1945 Schwaz is a Town in Austria - it is in the area, were the 101st Airborne Division ended the War. So could this picture show some GI´s from the 101st Airborne? Glider Artillery Soldiers? That would be a great find. Maybe the Names on the picture could be atached to a singel Unit? Thanks for reading, help and comments would be very nice! Christian
1SG_1st_Cav Posted July 12, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 12, 2014 The M-3 was the short barreled 105mm Airborne/Glider version. It got the job done when needed! Danny
