patches Posted July 8, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 8, 2014 I would go for it, a fine array of differant units, is the person your going to buy thm from, from Germany? if so, some like the four on the bottom left in photo 1 are from the 43rd Infantry Division and most likely will date from the late 40s to mid 50s when this Division was stationed in Germany. AB45 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted July 8, 2014 Hey Patches Yes the seller is from Germany. The DUI's would have to be all from the 50 `s.My favorite is "From Normandy to Elbe" (bottom left)DUI's with Pin Back are as good as not to get in Germany. I'll probably save some

Should read early 50s (1951) to mid 50s (1954) for the period of the 43rd Division in Germany.
MarkGreen Posted July 9, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 9, 2014 I'm with Leigh. This would be a nice acquisition. I am new at collecting DIs and find these to be most intriguing. Marko
Allan H. Posted July 9, 2014 Share #9 Posted July 9, 2014 I don't see anything there that screams "exotically rare" or even "rare," but if you can get into them for a reasonable price, I think you'll be OK. If I were buying them, I would be wanting to try to buy them for $2.50 to $3 each when buying a group of them. Hopefully, you are going to be buying them for your own enjoyment and not for resale as selling DI's is not the easiest thing in the world to do. AB45 Posted July 10, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted July 10, 2014 Hey Allan Non-dollar but 2 to 3 € is a good price. (In a convoluted € 1)And yes I will keep them.3 reasons why I collect Di's.The first counter parts to the forest finds. (look pic) DI's from the boys with rifle, all infantry. (Which are so beautiful Blue ) And all the DIs of the U.S. units Frankfurt to Würzburg. Unfortunately, I can not get all Di `s with Pin Back accept. He has been ground me this Infantry pins.(clutch backs)

Allan H. Posted July 10, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 10, 2014 Be aware that a number of these DI's that you are showing are "made for collectors." Also, if there are missing pins or clutch prongs, they will be VERY hard to sell. NOBODY in the DI buying public will buy a damaged DI. patches Posted July 19, 2014 Share #16 Posted July 19, 2014 Good stuff there, those Meyer double shields with pin back will date from the mid 50s. Would like to see close ups of the one's on the right please, it is hard to see their hallmarks.

patches Posted July 19, 2014 Share #20 Posted July 19, 2014 Yeah man, all 50s stuff, possibly a couple of the unhallmarked being late WWII, immidiate post war/late 40s. From what I found when one see's pin backs DIs with the 1954 codes, these are indicative of one's made around the time the codes first came out in 1954, as one see's U.S. made pin back DIs less and less as the 50s progressed, they, being seen in the common clutch back form from then on.
