When he pulled this group out, my jaw just about hit the floor. Six months ago on Ebay I purchased a large lot of mail to include 50 POW letters from Stalag Luft III from the same vet ! I also have all the letters he mailed before he was captured and more ! 2nd/ Lt Ramsaur was shot down 5/13/43 while serving as a co pilot of a B-17 with the 305th Bomb Group, 8th AAF. Needless to say I made a deal with my buddy and reunited the medals with all of the paperwork and letter I already had. The Purple Heart is officially hand engraved. The reason there is no Air Medal is because he was shot down before completing 5 missions. He stayed in the USAF retiring as a Colonel. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
