While walking around one of the antique markets this morning ran across a dealer who found this in a estate sale to a WWII AAF B-17 crew member. The estate sale people were told it was part of a B-17, but would like to know for sure.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks in advance.

I can't match it up to any pictures of top or ball turrets on B-17s or B-24s, but it sure screams WWII Air Force, and since it calls for "link belts," it HAS to be gun related. Very cool. I have a small piece of a ball turret that has that same color on the inside of it.

EDIT: Since it isnt allowed how the hell do we post pictures now? your photo area is absolutely no g****ned help since all the pinned threads are prior to your change.

Ball turrets were the same in the B-17 and B-24. The ones in the B-24 just had a different mounting system so they could be raised and lowered.

Who'd ever think that a chunk of metal with a few tags could make such a very cool piece of history?
